Step 1: Join Your Local Chapter
SGMP Chapters are the lifeblood of our professional society. Through your local chapter, you will have access to professional development opportunities specific to your state or local work and networking opportunities with local colleagues.
Step 2: Earn Your CGMP
The Certified Government Meeting Professional "CGMP" is designed for planners and suppliers whose work is governed by the rules and regulations of the federal government. Individuals who have earned their CGMP have obtained the highest designation available that is specifically for government meeting professionals.
The CGMP is recognized in the hospitality industry; many government contracts now require planners working on the contract have their government certification.
Step 3: Take Advantage of Online Learning
SGMP offers a variety of online learning opportunities throughout the year, in addition to what is offered through your local chapter. Take advantage of live webinars and our video library from the comfort of your home or office! Grow professionally and earn CEUs.
Step 4: Register for the National Education Conference
The SGMP National Education Conference (NEC) is an annual event featuring over 20 hours of professional development sessions, exciting keynote speakers, an industry tradeshow, networking opportunities, a fundraising silent auction, and more!
Earn CEUs, grow professionally, expand your professional network, and have fun with us at the NEC!
Step 5: Review SGMP's Online Resources
SGMP offers our members a variety of online resources to help you grow professionally and stay on top of industry trends. Members are automatically subscribed to the weekly SGMP Link (newsletter) and the Government Connections Magazine, and have access to the SGMP Online Buyers Guide and jobs bank.
Step 6: Connect with Other Members
Be sure to connect with other SGMP members! Grow your professional network, learn from colleagues, and know someone out there is always available to help you with those tough professional questions. Search the SGMP membership directory, meet members at local chapter events, and expand your network at the NEC.
Step 7: Renew Your Membership!
Don't forget to renew your SGMP membership - memberships renew annually on the anniversary of your join date. Visit your member profile to stay on top of your SGMP membership.
